His knees fall hard on the tiles and his hair hovers dangerously around his ears as he empties his stomach. What he hasn’t eaten comes up readily and he doesn’t know how long he’s at it before Gideon comes and holds hair back. When it finally lets up, Gideon helps him to the sofa and Spencer cocoons himself in blankets again, wondering how long it’ll be before he starts sweating instead of freezing. “I guess I’m pretty stupid for a genius,” he mutters, grimly remembering Ethan’s words. Gideon pats his shoulder and reminds him, “You’re only human, Spencer.” Despite his attempts to avoid it, Spencer’s voice cracks as he asks, “Why couldn’t you have been in my life ten years sooner?” |
